A jumpy, cheerful fan from Israel is looking for people to tour San Francisco and Yosemite Park with after the convention (after her friend abandoned her in order to attend a sister's wedding. Lousy excuse!)
Requirements:
A Fan
Is not bothered by cheerful, jumpy people
Wishes to tour San Francisco around Aug. 29-31 and / or to tour Yosemite around Sep. 1-3 (or vice versus) (dates negotiable).
Advantages:
Driving license (for the Yosemite part)
(No romantic intentions, boys and gals, am not single ) |

Be sure to check a map of California. It is a good day's drive from southern California to San Francisco. _________________ Science over Superstition |

Sieglinde - Thanks! But don't worry, I'm going by train and there's a day that has "traveling to Frisco" written on it |

Ever ridden a train in Europe or the UK?
Amtrac is not as nice or as well run as the European systems.
Check ahead to find out if BART has a station near the train station in SF. BART (SF subway system) is the way to go. _________________ Science over Superstition |

Amtrak called me last week to say that due to work on the track, that route (#14, Coast Starlight) could be delayed up to six hours. So have contingency plans. Call 800 872 7245 the day before, and they can give a better estimate of the delay.
The BART station looks to be about 8-10 blocks from the Oakland Amtrak station (OKJ). Amtrak offers a connection via coach from OKJ to the Ferry building (SFC) in San Francisco (where Market runs into the bay) for a few more dollars and they will wait for the train if it is delayed.

This is California which is very car friendly (except for finding parking in SF). You may want to rent a car. I don't know if Greyhound is a good alternative or not. _________________ Science over Superstition |

Amtrak delayed? I think I'll call them, thanks a lot!
Thanks for the tip, but I won't be taking a car, unless I'll find a pal for Yosemite. I hate driving more then 2 hours straight, and I hate driving where the scenery is something I really wanna see |

Note that I corrected the Amtrak contact number in my post above. Don't call the old one unless you are over 18 and want to have a good time.
(To repeat, 800 872 7245 is the correct number.) |

If you like scenary then I-5 is ideal. After a hundred miles of nothing but dried out cotton fields you won't mind missing the scenary. _________________ Science over Superstition |
